The Cambridge Latin: Translation

Fight

Clemens was walking in the forum. A very large crowd was in the forum. Slaves and slave-girls were buying food. Many bakers were selling bread. Poets were reciting. A Greek merchant was having an argument with a farmer. The merchant was angrily demanding money. The farmer suddenly punched the Greek, because the Greek cursed the farmer. The ¬†Pompeiians gather, and were urging the farmer on. Clemens, after hearing the clamor, hurried to the fight. At last the farmer overpowered the merchant and chased him out of the forum. The Pompeiians praised the farmer’s bravery.
